Linux has some great features. Over my years of experimentation, I've found the most eye-popping, impressive, and convenient is Compiz-Fusion - the 3d windows manager. Below, you'll see a screen capture of my machine performing some Compiz tasks such as wobbly windows, workspace switching, and various other tricks. Furthermore, you'll see my quick launcher, Gnome-Do, docker - Kiba-Dock, pop-down terminal, Yakuake - and the piece de resistance, Amarok - the awesome media player.
This video doesn't even come close to all of the amazing available features. For more information, consult the friendly folks at Ubuntu Forums or the Compiz-Fusion site.
Also note, this is a "rough" screen capture. Compiz actually runs much smoother than this video demonstrates.

I'm a pretty simple guy when it comes to computing, but all that business is pretty impressive.
Yeah - and it's not all just glitz and glamor. The majority of the features in Compiz actually make my life a lot easier by making programs easier to organize, open, manipulate, etc.
FYI: It's already installed in Ubuntu. To play with the settings, open up Adept and search for "compiz." You'll see something like compizconfig-settings-manager. I'd give you the terminal command to install it, but I honestly don't remember the name of the program at the moment.
The terminal command for the settings manager is ccsm.
